A joint replacement is scheduled in Athena (CPT 27130, 27447, 27446) and continues through the day of surgery.
How should Ohtari handle this situation?
This skill is the protocol the Joint replacement pre-op coordination workflow follows. It defines what happens, in what order, between scheduling and day-of surgery.
Timeline
- Day 0 (scheduled): Submit PA · request PCP clearance · schedule anesthesia consult window
- Day −14 to −7: Anesthesia consult complete · DME order placed · patient education call
- Day −2: DME delivered · NPO confirmation · transport plan confirmed
- Day −1: Final patient call · medication hold instructions · arrival time
- Day 0 (surgery): Morning briefing pushed to surgeon mobile
Repeat patient skip rules
If the patient has had a contralateral joint replaced at this practice within 24 months, skip the −7 day patient education call (Ohtari detects this from the chart history).
Escalation
If clearance from PCP is not received by day −5, escalate to Linda Park for direct outreach.
